Action 9 with BK

Hello Golf Maniacs!

Ben King here. I hope everyone is getting through the “offseason”. We are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the PEI golf season just over a month away!

We at Golf Mania PEI are so excited to release our new website. With our fresh new website, I plan on doing monthly blog posts to keep everyone updated on some fun and behind the scenes notes on our business.

I am going to call the blog Action 9 with BK. 9 notes or thoughts on what we have on the go, what I have been watching, and just my overall thoughts on the golf industry and life itself.

1. GM Updates: We released our new website with the goal of having a more modern online golf shop for previewing or ordering our products. Special thanks to our own Samara and the team at Graphcom for their work behind the scenes. Please let us know any feedback.

2. Golf Mania PEI Events: Our event schedule for 2025 season is now set. These events are the highlight of the golf season to us and can’t thank everyone enough for all the participation over the years. We have 12 events this season kicking off with our Masters Party at Andersons Creek (Masters Sunday). We also added three new events: the North Shore Shootout, Callaway Summer Slam and The Dual! Check out the Events tab for more information and to sign up. www.golfmaniapei.com/events

3. New Golf Gear 2025: We are so thrilled with all the new products launched this winter. We are grateful to our amazing partners Callaway, Cobra, Titleist, Taylormade, Srixon, Tour Edge and NEW for 2025 Ping! The Fit Doctor has been busy fitting all these amazing brands and the results have been off the charts.

4. TGL: The new TGL has been all the buzz to start 2025. I know there have been mixed reviews but personally, I have really enjoyed watching. Sim golf is such a blast to play so I can relate to that component of the game really well and I am always craving new golf content. So for me, it’s a win-win. It doesn’t hurt that I am always rooting for my guy, the GOAT, TW. If you haven’t followed yet, be sure to tune in. https://tglgolf.com/

5. Speaking of golf content: I am loving how much there is right now on the internet. Bryson Dechambeau’s viral Hole in One Over His House challenge, his Breaking 50 videos, Phil Mickelson matches, Grant Horvat and Mac Boucher have been my favourites. So many great avenues to consume golf right now. Maybe Golf Mania PEI will have to do a challenge this summer? Stay tuned!

6. Golf Shoes: I had lunch with a sales rep friend of mine the other day and we were chatting about golf equipment and the talk of shoes came up. During the COVID-19 golf boom lots of new golfers took up or got back into the game purchasing new clubs and the latest in golf tech but one thing that seemed to get forgotten was golf shoes. Personally, I am a notorious shoe guy (love my Nike AF1 shoes) but sometimes the golf shoe gets the short end of the stick when investing in your game. Here is an article from Golf.com about the importance of having golf shoes https://golf.com/gear/shoes/are-golf-shoes-necessary/

7. Group Leaders: One of the most important people in the golf world are the group leaders. They’re the ones putting in the work to book, cancel, and edit your tee times. The ones who “herd the cats” if you may. They are a great asset to not only the members of these groups but also the golf course operations. As we all know no show tee times are a problem in our industry and affect other people being able to enjoy our busy golf courses. If you are a member of a group with a great group leader be sure to buy them a beer or slide them a sleeve of Chrome Tour balls every once in a while. Shoutout Chris Reeves! 😉

8. Let’s Talk Music: Something on my agenda this offseason is building a new and improved golf course playlist. I am definitely a pro on course music guy. I know some don’t love it but I think as long as you play the tunes at a respectful level there can be no issues for anyone. Some of my favourite artists to listen to on the course are Morgan Wallen, Post Malone, Muscadine Bloodline, The Hip, Luke Combs and The Sheepdogs.

9. New Years Resolutions: I still have kept mine going and it’s not only to improve my life but my golf game too. My goal for 2025 is to walk everyday (minimum 30 minutes but 45 is my sweet spot). Some things I have noticed in the first 50 days of my journey is that my overall happiness has improved. My lungs feel better and I have been doing some great thinking/reflecting. I can’t wait for this spring to get out walking on our golf courses with my dog Charlie.

Thanks and be well!
